Biography

The Prohibition Stompers project was initiated in late 2016 in Graz, Austria. The band consists of seven early jazz enthusiasts from different corners of the world.

Their choice of music brings us back to the era referred to as the golden age of jazz or the roaring 20’s. This was a time full of optimism, a time when everything was possible. The economy was booming and the world saw its first mass use of automobiles, telephones, radio and other electric appliances. The media focused on celebrities – sports stars like Babe Ruth and movie stars like Charlie Chaplin. With all that the first pop-culture emerged. The music contained all the energy and a kind of madness of that era. People first started dancing to a very fast, rhythmical type of music – stomp.
The band strives to recreate the spirit of the era filled with new energy.
